Bentley is a four year old male giant schnauzer who is being fostered in GA. He has had a hard life so far in that he lived in the garage in a crate until he went into rescue just a few weeks ago. He was horribly thin because his former owners didn't know he wasn't supposed to be that way. He has now been to a doctor and is being treated for his ailments. He did have intestinal parasites and now those are being treated and he is gaining weight. He has a mild stage two heartworm and that will be treated shortly. When he is healthy enough, he will be neutered. He is being fostered by a family who knows and understands how to treat and train dogs. In spite of the fact that he lived in a crate, he is very social and likes other people. He doesn't always know how to act towards people but he is learning. He was briefly in a home with a mini and that was fine.. He respected the smaller female when she told him to back off. We would not place him around small children under the age of 13 or 14 simply because he has never been around them. We will know more after he has gotten better. Once Bentley is healthy, we will assess where he is and what his adoption fee should be. Any dog adopted from us at any time comes back to Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue if the adopter can not keep the dog. We are responsible for our dogs for their lifetime. And we hope our adopters are also. Each dog will have been neutered, had full panel blood tests done, been microchipped and up to date on all of his shots. . If the adoption doesn't work out for some reason with in the first thirty days, the adoption fee is refunded upon return of the dog. Our contract states that during the life of the dog, should something happen that you can not keep any of our dogs, the dog must be returned to VSGSR. Should a family member wish to adopt the dog, they would be given first priority. We are responsible for our dogs for their entire life.
